DIAMOND - CUT
A stones quality can largely depend on the quality of the cut. A diamond that is cut to good proportions, will reflect light from facet to another facet dispesing through the top of the stone.
A Diamond that is cut to deep will allow light to escape through the opposite pavilion
A Diamond that is cut to shallow allows light to escape through the pavilion before it can be reflected.
DIAMOND - COLOUR
The brilliance of any diamond is determined by the amount of white light reflected back to
the eye. The ideal engagement diamond will have a distinct lack of colour.
DIAMOND - CARAT
Each gem stone is measured in carots. One carot is equal to 0.20 grams. The value of a diamond is not based on carots alone. Colour, Clarity, Cut and the carot weight help to determine the price of a diamond.
When considering a diamond of equal quality, the larger of the two will have the higher value.
DIAMOND - CLARITY
Clarity is determined by the imperfections within a stone and on the surface of a stone.
